Bolen Books and Munro’s Books in Victoria, British Columbia are now carrying the book Someone I Love is Dying. Both bookstores have a long history of supporting Victoria’s culture and community, including hosting events featuring well-known and local authors.
Bolen Books – One of Canada’s Largest Independent Bookstores
Opened as a small bookstore in Hillside Shopping Centre by Madeline (“Mel”) Bolen in 1975, the store now occupies almost 20,000 square-feet making it one of the biggest single-location independent bookstores in Canada. With more than 50 staff, the family-run business has over 30,000 titles. The store’s author signing and reading series are nationally renowned.
Munro’s Books – Heritage Building Destination for Book Lovers
Founded in 1963, Munro’s Books was recognized in the National Geographic book, Destinations of a Lifetime, as the third best bookstore in the world in a list of the top-10 book lover destinations of a lifetime. The bookstore is located in a former Royal Bank of Canada building built in 1909 in downtown Victoria with 24-foot coffered ceilings, and marble and hardwood floors. The store was co-founded by Alice Munro, who went on to win a Nobel Prize in 2013, and her husband Jim Munro.
