Heart in Hand Logo About Giving from the Heart

Heart in Hand Books Ltd. was established in 2016 to help those supporting someone through their end of life journey.  The first book, Someone I Love is Dying, provides practical advice on what to think about and work through before and after the death of a loved one.

When someone you love is dying, there are so many things to think about – so many emotions. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed.  Finding practical ways to take care of both yourself and your loved one is important.

Symbols of Caring and Giving

The logo for Heart in Hand Books captures the concepts of caring and giving.  The heart symbolizes love, caring, and human connection.  The hand symbolizes practical action and support.  Placing the heart in the hand links the two concepts – demonstrating caring in practical ways.

The hand can also represent a dove – a symbol of God’s presence.  When we feel overwhelmed and brokenhearted, God is there to carry a heavy heart.

Practical Ways of Giving from the Heart

Sometimes, giving from the heart means pausing to acknowledge what you are feeling as you care for a loved one with a terminal illness.  Understanding and acknowledging your feelings and allowing others to help you will enable you to better support and care for your loved one. Practical ways to take of yourself might include regular exercise, a healthy diet, and doing things that comfort you such as playing an instrument, talking with a friend or meditating.

Practical help for a terminally ill loved one might be as simple as sitting with them, listening to them talk about their fears and concerns, or arranging for one of their favourite activities such as music, movies or books – whatever is meaningful to them.

Thanks to David Robbers Design for creating the logo that captured my heart, and my hope to give from the heart.
